CCMA Medical Assistant

Skilltrade’s online medical assistant classes are designed to teach you everything you need to know about your new career and help you pass your certification exam. Overcome realistic challenges and situations with scenario-based virtual training. Our gamified study activities and interactive 3D models boost retention and make learning fun. With a range of teaching styles, from dynamic lectures to curated eBooks to quizzes and custom feedback, you’ll thrive with Skilltrade no matter your learning style.

Opt for a 24-week certified medical assistant online program or a 32-week hybrid option (coming soon!). Online students learn at their own pace through flexible coursework and can choose to participate in an externship of their choosing to gain patient-facing experience and hands-on training at a real medical practice. Students in our hybrid model will head to a nearby facility to fine-tune their newly learned skills in real life. They’ll also be required to participate in an externship, and our Enrollment Team will help them find the perfect match.

Can I complete the program at my own pace?

The program is designed to be 24 weeks long. That being said, we do understand that unforeseen circumstances may occur and have built in the ability to extend the program in some instances. See the Academic Catalog for details about extensions.

Is this program 100% online?

Yes. The Medical Assistant Online Program is 100% online. As part of the program, we strongly encourage students to obtain in-person experience (typically unpaid) at a local healthcare organization. This is an optional portion of the program. Skilltrade’s partnerships with healthcare organizations across the U.S. allow us to assist students in finding these opportunities for real-world practice in a medical facility.

How do I interact with instructors and classmates?

Upon enrollment, you will gain access to your Student Success Specialist, who will be available to support you throughout the program via email and phone during normal operating hours. You will also have access to an online portal where you can discuss class exercises and topics via weekly guided reflection questions.
